Just a short distance from the hotel are some of the most artistically and culturally interesting places in Catania: the Roman Amphitheatre; the Villa Bellini gardens; Via dei Crociferi, overlooked by a series of magnificent baroque palaces; and Piazza Duomo, with the Chapel of St. Agatha, where a valuable treasure is stored and carried in a procession every year during the celebrations in honor of the city's patron saint (3rd, 4th and 5th February). The Benedictine Monastery is also an essential visit, nowadays home to the Faculty of Arts, the St. Julian Church, one of the most beautiful in Catania, and Ursino Castle, the only building to survive the earthquake in 1693.
