This palace takes its name from the street “Rugapiana” that means “flat street”. Rugapiana is the only flat street that can be found in the historical centre of Cortona. In the past, the word “Ruga” was used to describe a street with shops, labs and houses. Today “Rugapiana” is the main street, closed to traffic of this Etruscan town that offers tourists the chance to go back into the past centuries. Everything in Cortona is reminiscent of the Etruscan and medieval times, and also the Renaissance.

The Palazzo is an enchanting late 19th century country building fully renovated and restored in 2005. The holiday farm Il Palazzo consists of six different apartments (from two to six people). The farm has a large garden with a 6 x 12 metre fully-equipped swimming pool (the pool is equipped with beach umbrellas, deck-chairs, sunbeds, gazebos and a table tennis table). The holiday farm Il Palazzo is located about 2 ½ miles away from Cortona.

A fully-equipped professional kitchen converted from the old cellar of the house is used by Mrs.Paola to fix for the guests delicious breakfasts (upon request), incredible "marmellatas" (jams) and wonderful cakes. In addition, the evening guests, upon request, can eat in the small restaurant to taste the best local cuisine and Tuscan prepared with genuine products and fresh, always accompanied by classic Chianti wine and Vin Santo of grandfather. We serve products for coeliac and wheat intolerant.
